豆沙包

We have quite the picky eaters. Nathan has been eating lunch at school, and we have to pack his lunch for him. He usually likes noodles and pasta. But somehow he just wouldn't eat very well at school. So Grandma tries something new. 叮噹豆沙包! So she pan fried some ground pork mixed with vegetable, with whole wheat bread. Very healthy. Then she cuts them in half circle. Nathan really liked the 豆沙包 la. So of course, we did the same thing for school the next day. He ate the whole buns and almost finished the meat. Guess what happened the next day? He didn't eat the bun at all, and said that that wasn't his lunch.
And you think Naomi would be easier, right? She fooled us at first cuz she would quickly chomp down 8 tsp of rice cereal. But this week, she just wouldn't eat anything. Well I should say, she wouldn't eat anything that's "store bought baby food". So today we tried real congee, cooked real sweet potato, and real banana. She finally showed interest in food again. But it took grandma almost the entire morning just to get these food ready for her. Just hope that they would eat better cuz the both have become skinnier. (Yes even Naomi la)

The mobile Ayo

Naomi's mobility has increased. She can't quite crawl on her hands and knees yet. What she can do is slithering on her stomach, like a fat snake.

Her 3 hit combos to get from places to places include:

1. On her stomach, using her arms to rotate herself (She can go a full circle if she's desperate, i.e. looking for mom when she is in her evil crib)
2. Slide backwards with the aid of the arms
3. and roll over and over and twist her waist to reach destination
Don't "look small" her because of her size, she can easily roll over now, and make herself turn a sharp 90 degree angle, grabbing Nathan's toys. (picture taken: 2008.10.21)

Fire Chief Nathan

Fire Chief Nathan in Action! Grandpa gu gu has searched the entire GTA for a set of fire fighter clothes that fits Nathan. They were able to find this set that was meant for 7-8 yrs old. Nathan was so happy that he has to put the whole set on when he got home. He actually took his axe and posed for the camera, which is rare for him. (He ususally likes to play tricks on you. When you ask him to pose, he would do weird things / funny faces, or run). (picture taken 2008.10.27, 2 yrs 10 mos)

So this is the fire fighter game that we have been playing. When the alarm in the fire hall ring, fire fighter have to put on their helmet, fireproof jacket, gloves, boots, and bring their gears. Everyday when I pick him up after school, there are about 30 fires that we need to rescue. (Yes, Nathan is very "long gas", he can repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat....the same game over and over again.) (video: 2008.10.20)

Naomi won't sleep in her crib anymore

Thanks to the flu, Naomi has defeated mom and the evil crib, once again. She was sick last week and was being sick in her bed one night. So guess what! Mom has done it again. I know I know, I have been warned about not doing it again. Yes, I picked her up, and let her sleep in my bed. Even worse, since she was having stuffy nose and can't breath very well (meaning can't sleep very well), I held her for the whole night. This sets the ground for the future battle. She now contests soooooooooo much and cries and cries and cries until you pick her up. (pictures taken: 2008.10.23 7 mos)
Just so that you know, the same thing happened to Nathan when he was little. It took almost half a year before he made his way back into his crib again......

The Art of eating

How many of us rush through our lunch without truly tasting what we are putting in our mouth? Ayo (Naomi's Chinese Name) has started her solid food for about 3 weeks by now. Her pure enjoyment for food and her anticipation of it every time really reminds us that we should really try to enjoy our food, and be grateful.

She would eagerly open her mouth wide, sometimes even sticking out her tongue accidentally since she is too excited.

And one can see the real disappointment on her face when she comes to the end of her gourmet. (Well, rice and barley cereal for now) (picture taken: 2008/9/21, 6 months)

Broken Toe Nail

This is the second times that this happened-- Naomi had her big toe nail ripped. It's probably because she always rubs her feet against each other, and when she wears body suits, her nails get caught on the fabric and ripped. This time was almost bleeding. Poor kid.

Jumping Gym

Back in the days when Naomi was taking her first set of bikini pictures, Uncle Kerwin suggested that she needed to lose some weight. So motivated as Naomi is, she decides to join the jumping gym.

We are always amazed about how long her tongue is.

And after a full session of jumping gym, she has definitely lose a few pounds, thanks to her busy jaw. (picture taken 2008.9.27, 6 months)

Soccer Pa Pa

Victor went out to a soccer game last night. Before he left, Nathan asked him where he was going. So Victor replied that he was going to a soccer match. Then Nathan said, "爸爸你會打輸", in monotone. Well guess what, Nathan was right. Victor's team lost by 2:4.

The Wiggles Show

We drove downtown to the Rogers Center today to watch "The Wiggles" show. For those who have been watching TV with their kids would know that these four guys who are in their 50's, wearing costumes from the 1970's, singing songs and doing silly dances. It's a real mystery but kids sure do love them.

We went to the show with Jordan, who is Nathan's good friend since there were little. (Jordan lives on the same floor as us, and he is two months younger than Nathan. They used to go to classes together in the library). They have a funny way to communicate with each other. They don't seems to care if the other person knows what they are saying (one speaks Chinese, and the other English), but some how, they will do the same thing and play together really well. And this is Jordan's Mom, who invited us to the show. Thanks alot, Auntie Luisa.

Even though the show was at 2:30pm, which is Nathan's nap time usually, he actually slept in the car on the way there. (Lucky. Cranky kids and The wiggles don't go well together la)

All the kids were really energetic. Those kids who sat closer to the front were actually dancing and jumping along with The Wiggles. Even though Nathan and Jordan were a little young to follow along with what they were doing, they seemed to have enjoyed the show. Nathan was fascinated with the light effects. His favourite parts of the show must be when Caption Feather came out, along with the dinosaur, the dog and the octopus. (Sorry, I forgot their names. I think the dinosaur is called Dorothy, and she loves roses. And you can buy a dinosaur tail for $10, and a hat with her face on it for $20). His second favourite part of show must be munchin' on the Nachos.

And the most unhappy person would be Victor. There were signs saying "No video or audio recording allowed on premises". One would think that a camera would be ok then. At one point, Victor used his L lens to take some pictures, which have caught the eyes of the security. Some how, our DSLR was too "professional looking" that we were told that we weren't allowed to use it due to copyright issue. (While other parents kept flashing away with their cameras.) Too bad or we would have taken a picture for Captain feather for Nathan.

We had such a great time today. When we left, we walked pass this bridge above the train tracks to the Union station. You should see how excited all the children got when a Via train approached us. It was priceless to see how much kids appreciate what they encounter in their everyday life, things that us adult don't even notice anymore.

Like Brother like sis

Can you tell them apart?

Kung Fu Fighting

Nathan came home one day and said that him and his classmates "da kung fu" at school. Apparently, they have karate lessons.

Since Victor didn't get to see the kung fu show, we asked Nathan to "da kung fu" again a few days later. The moves got stronger, and the sound effect was even more exciting. He was soooooo cute.

For those that didn't know, Nathan actually hurt his left shoulder really badly 3 days ago. (We had to take him to x-ray just in case.) "Da kung fu" really makes you stronger.

Big hug from Naomi

Nathan used to be terrified of Naomi's kiss because of her saliva. (Hee hee, who wouldn't?) But as you can see, he doesn't mind it as much. We can really notice improvement on the way Nathan interacts with Naomi. Even thou sometimes it's still hard to ask him to share his toys with Naomi, but he is becoming much more generous and kind.

Notice how he wipes his face afterwards.

Sam Sam's Birthday Party Part II

Uncle Pat Pat and Auntie Su Su made an exciting announcment.........

They are getting married la!!!!! We were all very happy to hear the good news. And the best news for every one is the great opportunity to "play" Uncle Pat Pat since he's the one who planned all, I mean ALL as in every single one, of those showers and Jack and Jills. (The one who thought of all those torture games la) Ha Ha! Auntie Su Su, watch out for payback time la.

Sam Sam's Birthday Party

It was Samatha, aka pou pou's birthday party this past Sunday. You can tell Sam Sam had a lot of fun. According to her mom, her favourite birthday present is a bulletin board that keeps track of the amount of house work that Sam Sam helps out at home. For those other mothers who would like to purchase that cute house chores board, let me know and I can ask for you.
And we have some funny aunties who were teaching pou pou yoga, and crazy uncles who were dressing up as ugly plant outfit....... Also happy birthday to Uncle Glen, Uncle vor vor, Uncle Lou Lou, and Uncle Clement. (He was sick and didn't come, hope he's better la.)

Nathan was once again missing out on all the actions cuz he's still recovering from his sickness from last week. (Don't worry, he's much better already). And mui mui Naomi was wiped after the party cuz we didn't get home until 11:00pm.

Good Morning From Naomi

Naomi has been sleeping pretty well. Our bedtime routine is simple. She would be changed to her pj, have her face and bottom washed. Then we would read to her. Her last meal of the day would start at 8:00pm, and she usually would fall asleep by that time. On most days, she will sleep until 6:00am in the morning for a feeding, then sleep til around 8:00.

She has been trained to use her potty for quite sometimes already. Every morning, she would no. 2 in the potty. But recently, probably due to teething, she would go poo poo in her diapers 4, 5, 6, 7....times a day, and the colours are rather shocking. Yellow, green, black, gray. Also, I used to like the smell of her stool when she was pure breastfeeding, well, at least I didn't mind it much. But lately since she eats other food as well, her stools smell horrible.

But she sure looks cute on the potty.

A very disappointed mom

As some of you can tell, I have spent alot of time on the photographs and the layout of them. For all these times, I thought they were really pretty. Every now and then, I would go through the folders where I kept all these pictures. But today, Victor install this software on my laptop which calibrates the colours........Ended up all the pictures were too dark and yellowish!!!

Can you tell the difference? The one on the left is a new one that I edit after the program was installed. :( You will be able to see nice pictures hopefully after Nov 7, 2008.
